It's quite possible I may have saved you from the arduous task of searching for the perfect little black dress that can be styled up or down, is simple, comfortable, versatile and inexpensive. You're welcome! My perseverance has paid off and "voila", say hello to my little friend the perfect LBD!
A classic pump is a smart choice if you're looking for a day to night look. With a long pendant, structured bag and a tailored blazer you can hot foot it straight from the boardroom to a swanky dining room!
Why is this Dress so Perfect?
The soft knit fabric feels like you're wearing a tee-shirt. Just pull it on over your head, pull it down and BOOM, you're good to go!
From a style perspective, it's described as a body-con dress. It has an elegant tulip hem and ruching up one side seam but not the other which lends itself to a very forgiving fit, perfect for us midlife girls... upon one condition - DO NOT go body-con! I recommend sizing up which provides two benefits. First and most importantly, it will skim the body instead of pulling taught. This is key, and will avoid accentuating those body parts we don't want to draw attention to, especially if you suffer with NWS (no waist syndrome) as I do! Secondly, it gives added length which tends to look more elegant on a figure skimming dress.
If your plans involve fun and frolic, then go for an edgy look. A leather Moto jacket kicked up a notch with booties. Flats will do it too, in the way of pointy toe mules! And a leopard hair clutch is always a good idea... purrrfect!
Be careful when wearing booties with a dress. If the bootie comes too high and covers the slim line of the ankle, it can make your legs looking thicker than they are. Make sure there is some evidence of ankle displayed, either by way of sock bootie or a shorter bootie.
This has to be the easiest dress to style every which way. A girls night out or date night calls for a pair of sparkly earrings, sequined heels and a fun clutch!
You can really glam up the date night look with a faux fur stole which is totally on trend right now! Here's one I linked from Zara.
For a more formal affair feel free to break out the vintage! Here I paired an old Nicole Farhi jacket I've had in my closet for twenty years that's been accompanying me around the world! Also a vintage three string black bead choker that I've had to have re-strung at my local jewelers to keep it on the playing field!
And just when you think you've exhausted all your options, the belt adds another notch of versatility!
The simple round neckline of this dress offers a tremendous amount of jewelry options. Consider a long pendant, a choker or a collar necklace of which there are a number of on-trend choices from Zara and Baublebar. Or replace the necklace with statement earrings, the possibilities are endless!
If you have travel plans this holiday, this dress packs perfectly. Just fold neatly in your case, shake out and hang on arrival. It's light weight and takes up very little room. I recently took it on a trip to Houston and the dress fared way better than I did given the rigorous travel schedule! So for all this versatility, this perfect little black dress by Leith from Nordstrom is only $56 and wait, there's more, it also comes in a long sleeve version (online only), perfect for the cooler temps almost upon us (in AZ), already here everywhere else! Plus it comes in eleven different colors, so it's not only the perfect LBD, but the perfect LPD, LGD, LND... okay you get the picture - go check it out via the link below and get yourself one or several whilst they're still available. I think you'll find it's the perfect LBD! ![]() Have a wonderful week, and thank you for stopping by! Karen xox

Shoot, I cannot believe how quickly these things sell out. I knew I was onto a good thing when I found this dress! At this time of year for most of the country the long sleeve option is going to be very popular, here in Arizona we will probably get more use out of the sleeveless one! Hopefully they will get them in sooner than March!
