Well, better over the knee than over the hill, right? Over the knee, or indeed thigh high boots are super trendy this season. I wasn't sure if I could pull this trend off. Am I too old? Would I look like mutton dressed as lamb? An old porn star perhaps (I should be so lucky)? But with a few rules I set for myself, I believe I pulled it off. My Over Fifty/Over The Knee Rules:
Catherine Malandrino Boots similar I Splendid Leggings I H&M Sweater (old) I Saks off 5th Pom Pom Scarf Tom Ford Sunnies I Mulberry Bag (old) So this is how the story began. Once upon a time (at the start of fall) I dreamt of owning a pair of Stewart Weitzman over the knee boots. I'd seen them all over Pinterest and Instagram and they looked too cool for school. I talked myself out of the yearning with justification such as, why would I spend $800 on a pair of boots that I might only wear one season, or maybe I'm too old to be wearing them in the first place, and why am I even thinking about boots, when I live in the hottest part of the US. All good points. On accident, I stopped by Nordstrom Rack one evening after work, and there on the size 8.5 shoe shelf was this over the knee boot that looked exactly like a Stewart Weitzman, which is why it caught my eye (obviously the justification points had zero effect on my subconscious longing). I slithered myself into it's slim form and it fit perfectly. So with one foot in my Superga sneaker, the other strutting it's stuff in the boot, I made my way over to the desk to ask for the other half of the pair. Well, I kid you not, as I walked to the desk, a lady said to me, "I love your boots, are those the Weitzman's?" She obviously thought I was trying on the Supergas! That lady probably cinched the deal for me on those boots, or maybe it was that they were only $74.95, or maybe it was that I couldn't give up the opportunity of taking home what was a Stewart Weitzman in my minds eye, and obviously someone else's eye - thank you to the lady who thought I was wearing Weitzman's! The make is Catherine Malandrino, a French designer. They were the only pair in the store in any size. Online, Nordstrom Rack has a couple of similar styles by this designer - here and here, but I couldn't find the exact same boot. It was obviously my lucky day. The Pros:
So, can I justify these boots... hell yes! Oh, and lets's not forget that cute pom pom scarf by Calvin Klein, another steal from Saks Off 5th, only $19.99. What a score. I'm over the knee in love with these beauties! Have a very happy day

Help with choosing the right boots for the job in hand whether it be walking, yomping or weight carrying. It's important to get right to reduce injury to your feet or even more importantly, your back!

You're absolutely right. Sometimes comfort and practicality is more important than style, and sometimes it's possible to find both at the same time. I would not recommend these boots for either yomping or weight carrying, but a day to stroll around the shops is good. Thank you for your comment, it's a very good point.
