Haven't been able to steal the time away for a proper holiday of late, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't enjoy a little time away from home. A change of scenery with the ones you love, namely hubby (aka Brian) and the dog (aka Rigsby), is all you need to recharge the batteries for a while! A staycation in Arizona is never a disappointment when there is so much to do, see and enjoy here. So we drove all the way down the road to the new Mountain Shadows resort to see what all the hype was about!
Check in is indeed a scenic experience! Floor to ceiling picture windows overlook the gardens of the property, part of the Mountain Shadows 3-par golf course and our famous Camelback Mountain that just happens to be located right here in the middle of town. It's also a great hiking attraction and the resort will escort you to the trail head in their Tesla if you so desire! Can someone else register for me please while I stop and stare! Go hubby!
The property is of contemporary decor throughout. Consider our "Garden Room" a room with a view - not only of the perfectly manicured gardens, golf course and mountains, but also within the room a viewing shower, from all angles! Utterly relieved I'm sharing the room with Brian and not pairing up with a colleague from work!
The bed is comfortable and bedding luxurious, but I could have used more lighting in the vanity area and a full length mirror. I like to ensure I leave the room looking like a fashionista from head to toe and not a mismatch disaster! I also prefer to form my own opinion on how I look rather than having to depend on that of the hubby!
There are more than adequate USB plug-ins around the room including by each side of the bed, plus a pop-up bank of power outlets inside the desk. Should be enough to keep even the most tech savvy couple fully charged for the weekend! There's even a pen with a stylus and a spotlight all in one (well there was)!
Oh look, treats left by the hotel fairy! Had to tuck into the macaron, it would be rude not to! I really wish I didn't have to share everything ugh! There's also a cocktail bar with recipes and instructions if you fancy training for a bar tenders job during your stay!
I am impressed with the dog friendly approach of the property. You register your dog at the time of reservation and can request a complimentary dog amenity which includes a doggy bed, bowls for food and water, pooh bags, a doggy biscuit and a sign to hang outside the door when fur baby is home alone! This is such a great idea for people who like to travel with their dogs. It saves lugging a whole other fur person's stuff around! There were a couple of other dogs checking in at the same time as us and I'm proud to say Rigsby was by far the cutest and certainly the best behaved, probably on account of his British descent!
Rigsby was not as impressed with the dog amenity as I was! It may smell really good and be the perfect bed for a Chihuahua, but size does matter when you have to sleep in it!
Oh well, alternative sleeping arrangements necessary and the chaise will do nicely, thank you!
