A Few of my Favorite Things...

I have become much more picky about the products I use since I reached my late forties and early fifties.  I've also become much more skeptical about what products claim to do.  When I find something good I tend to stick to it, unless someone I know convinces me that there is something better.  Today I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite beauty products that I've been using for several years now.  My loyalty to these products has not waned in the slightest, and I use most of them on a daily basis.

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray

I've noticed  my hair starting to get thinner since I turned fifty or so.  It's always been fine, but since there is less of it, it doesn't look as big as it used to.  Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray really gives thin fine hair amazing volume, lift and body.  It separates strands so your hair has a natural texture to it, and acts a little bit like a dry shampoo so if your hair gets limp and greasy looking this product will help you last longer between shampoos.
I separate my hair and spray at the roots at intervals. It goes on invisibly, and gives you glamorous sexy hair.  I love all the products this brand makes, but this one I use all the time for effortlessly styled hair.

No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Serum

Picture
No7 has been around for donkey's years in England. They were a high street brand sold at Boots The Chemist.  In all my life, I've never heard a bad word said about their products.  I started using this serum when No7 hit the stores in America, and I hit the wrinkle years.  I slather it on before I moisturize morning and night.  I've become so addicted to this product as it makes my skin feel super soft and hydrated, and in tests it's supposed to dramatically reduce lines and deep wrinkles and continue to do so with use.  80% of women tested say it's the best anti-aging product they've used.  I would agree with that.

Tom Ford Black Orchid Body Lotion

Picture
A luxury I cannot do without.  It's rich, sensuous and exotic. You just want to keep on breathing it in, it's so mesmerizing.  I discovered the Tom Ford Black Orchid scent several years ago.  I'm still madly in love with it.  But here's the thing, this Tom Ford Hydrating Emulsion is just a quarter of the price of the perfume, and it smells exactly the same, and the lotion drenches your skin in a rich luxurious hydration.  It leaves a silken sheen and that amazing scent that whispers hints of lust as you walk by anyone who has the good fortune of getting a whiff of you.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer

Picture
This product is my daily moisturizer/coverage when I'm not doing foundation.  It provides just a little bit of coverage, has an SPF of 20 and really works.  I play tennis with this on my face and I don't get sunburn.  I love how it smooths out my skin tone and almost looks like I'm wearing foundation.  I have a fairly oily t-zone area on my face plus I live in a mostly hot climate, so I've been using the oil free version to minimize shine.  I love all the Laura Mercier products I've tried, but this is an every day necessity in my routine.  I use the "Almond" shade.

Laura Mercier Dusting Powder

Picture
Here I go again on the Laura Mercier band wagon!  This invisible loose setting powder is light reflecting, and creates a soft flawless look over foundation or even just my tinted moisturizer.  I sweep it over my face with a brush before applying blusher.  It evens out skin tone, and softens the look of wrinkles.  I tap a tiny bit into the lid and dab my brush in it before applying it to my face.  It makes my skin look as though I've spent a massive amount of time on it.

Tom Ford Pink Dusk Lipstick

Picture
This is my favorite lipstick color and lipstick brand hands down. Tom Ford Lipstick in Pink Dusk is the perfect everyday color for me.  It's a neutral shade  that looks natural yet polished.  I've never been a huge lipstick wearer as most brands I've ever used either smell and/or taste bad, and dry up my lips within one wearing that ultimately requires three days of healing.  Tom Ford lipsticks use ingredients that do none of the above, but in fact seem to moisturize my lips.  I now have a few other colors in this brand, but this shade remains my favorite.

I love these products, they're part of my every day regime.  They make me feel beautiful, youthful, they're easy to use and far from expensive.  What's not to love ?
